Founded in 1886, the Butler County Family YMCA is a not-for-profit social services organization operating two branches across Butler County, Pennsylvania, including in the City of Butler, Cranberry Township, and Slippery Rock Township. As a 501(c)(3) entity, its mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all, with a particular focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
The organization serves thousands of people annually through a range of community programs. These include preschool education, youth, teen, and family classes, as well as land and water exercise classes for all fitness levels. It also runs chronic disease management programs and a backpack program that provides food to school children on weekends and holidays. Additional support extends to families affected by addiction through support groups that offer childcare.
Butler County Family YMCA is funded in part through an Annual Support Campaign that relies on community contributions, with 100% of those funds directed to meeting the county's greatest community needs. The organization's work is aimed at empowering children, families, seniors, and veterans within its service area.
