Founded in 1974, the Youth Crisis Center is a nonprofit provider of short-term crisis care, mental health counseling, skills-based group training, and transitional living services for youth and families exposed to traumatic situations. Based in Jacksonville, the organization serves children, teens, young adults, parents, and families throughout Northeast Florida, including Duval, Baker, Nassau, Clay, and St. Johns counties.
The center has received national recognition for its work. The Youth Policy Institute in Washington DC ranked it among the top five programs in the United States. It is fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation and has been honored with two Presidential Commendations for Excellence, numerous state awards, and was named the 2016 Agency of the Year by the FL Network of Youth and Family Services. The organization's model has been featured on 60 Minutes, Sunday Morning with Charles Kuralt, The New York Times, USA Today, and Readers Digest.
